From my understanding we can download and use trial CMS version as long as we want. My question is - What does the Domain License actually mean for me as for user? Your site says:

The trial version has full functionality however there is limit on how many categories, articles, products etc. you can add. I think the limit is about 5 of each. With a full licence there are no such limits.

E-commerce allows you to sell products on your website with shopping cart functionality, add to cart buttons, checkout, shipping/payment options, adding and modifying products/orders in the admin area etc. There is quite a lot extra features and functionality but it's only needed if you want to sell products or services on your website and so it is an optional extra.
