I tried to update to the new version of the CMS and all seemed to go well until I switched from the old cms to the new and my site looked horrible.  the images were replaced with placeholders and most of the formatting on the static Xara page was lost.

I've switched back to the old cms for now.  Any ideas about what I might have done wrong?

It sounds like it can't locate the image files and css files in your theme. Did you upload your websites theme folder into the themes folder on the new install?

yes everthing is there.

Edit:  I seem to have it working now.  I had forgotten to enable the friendly URLs again after installing the update  I'm not sure if that's what fixed it but everything seems to be fine now.
